June 21st, I joined my church on a mission trip to Utah. I have never been to that part of the country and was apprehensive about leaving my husband and kids behind for eight days. After some generous words from a few wonderful people, I decided to go and am so glad I did!
My church, along with two others in the area, made our two day trek to the west. We took twenty one people and worked with Morgan Grace church to assist in a G3 Basketball Camp. We divided into three different camps for the morning basketball clinic, then did some community service projects.
While there, we stayed as a group in a larger church in Layton. While eating breakfast in the community room, an older couple walked in, hand in hand. The man was tall, in a full suit and tie. He asked if anyone had ever heard of the Hell’s Angels. A few of us nodded and smiled as he informed us he was a part of the original Hell’s Angels.
After eating and cleaning up, I found the couple in the back of the church, drinking coffee with a woman in one of the back rooms. I told him I had a blog and wrote Christian Romantic Suspense novels, using military backgrounds and asked if I could interview him. We had limited time, but he gladly shared what he could with me before I had to leave.
Paul Sersland was a member of the 303rd bomber group in World War II. He gave me a bit of advice and shared a little of his story with me and on Wednesday, I’ll share with you what he told me!
