I know you want to read another blog post about Thanksgiving, but I’ll keep it short, promise!
For me, I’m thankful for so much that it seems absolutely ridiculous how much I tend to focus on the bad or inconvenience in my life (not making time for enough blog posts, for example!). I have a wonderful and healthy family, a house to live in and cars that run, a church where I can worship the Lord and enough food that I’ll never starve. Although, there are way too many times that I stand in my kitchen thinking, man, there’s nothing to eat!
But there are things that we all too often take for granted. With our nation on what seems like yet another brink of anger and internal combustion, I feel like we should take a moment to see how blessed we really are to live in America.
Home of the Free Because of the Brave
It’s a quote I know a lot of you have heard, but this quote doesn’t just apply to military. There are so many civil workers that don’t get this holiday off in order to keep our nation running and safe. Police, EMTs, firefighters, as well as healthcare workers are in it for the long haul, dealing with exploding turkeys and family disputes on what should be a day of relaxation with family.
Please remember all these men and women in your prayers and understand that you don’t have to be serving overseas to be separated from family during holidays!
That being said, remember all our military that are in active or inactive areas of war. So many are still on the frontlines, eating MREs or worse. They should be sitting around watching football and eating with their loved ones, but they choose to serve.
With our nation so focused on hate and division, I hope we can all agree that those serving on the frontlines deserve so much more than what we give them, while away and when they come home.
